Xanavi Selects WIND RIVER PLATFORM for CAR INFOTAINMENT

Leading Provider of In-Vehicle Information Systems Strengthens Long-Standing Relationship with Wind River

Alameda, Calif.--November 17, 2003--Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND), the worldwide market leader in embedded software and services, today announced that Xanavi Informatics Corporation, a leading provider of in-vehicle information systems, has selected WIND RIVER PLATFORM for Car Infotainment (PLATFORM CI) to increase development efficiency and productivity. Wind River and Xanavi have a long-standing partnership that has produced a number of Xanavi's car infotainment solutions, such as Xanavi CARWINGS. Xanavi continues to rely on Wind River for integrated embedded technology that enables Xanavi to provide its customers with top-quality performance and reliability.

"Given that companies are looking for ways to maximize resources and returns during the tough economic climate, many are seeking out partners like Wind River that can help them increase efficiencies in the development and delivery of their solutions," said Masafumi Naito, manager, Technical Research Center Product Research & Development Division for Xanavi Informatics Corporation. "By developing our car infotainment solutions on Wind River's reliable PLATFORM CI, we can now effectively accelerate time-to-market, lower costs, and reduce risk involved in designing, developing and deploying our in-vehicle devices."

PLATFORM CI enables faster time-to-market by cutting integration and testing time, often the most time-consuming stages within the development process. It also lowers costs by combining industry-leading components and tools for a wide variety of development needs with enterprise-wide licensing terms that allow the platform to be leveraged across multiple projects within an organization. Additionally, PLATFORM CI reduces the risk, effort, and cost of integrating components and tools from multiple sources with single supplier support.

"Customers are quickly realizing the value of integrated embedded platforms that are tailored to their specific industry," said Tony Tryba, vice president market divisions for Wind River. "Xanavi's adoption of the WIND RIVER PLATFORM for Car Infotainment is a solid endorsement of the benefits of our PLATFORM strategy."
