Wind River Supports Intel's StrongARM and XScale Micro-Architecture for Enhanced Wireless, Networking and Telecommunication Development
Center of Excellence Tightly Integrates Wind River's Leading Embedded Software with Intel Microprocessor Families, Simplifying Development, Cutting Time-to-Market.
ALAMEDA, Calif., July 16, 2001 — Wind River Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND), a leading provider of software and services for connected smart devices, today announced availability of Wind River's leading Tornado® integrated development environment (IDE) and VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS) for the Intel® XScale™ microarchitecture. This announcement extends a long list of Wind River products supporting Intel processors, including the Intel StrongARM* microarchitecture and IXP1200 Network Processor families. This software is the result of Intel and Wind River's collaboration under the Center for Excellence program. Tornado II is shipping now on Windows, Solaris and HP-UX hosts. Hardware bring-up tools such as visionCLICK, visionICE II, visionPROBE II, and visionWARE, visionXD are also available and shipping along with Wind River's PPMC80310 and the PCI I/O card Intel XScale microarchitecture-based reference designs.
