Titanium Server won top honors in the NFV Innovation of the Year category. The Carrier Network Virtualization Awards celebrate excellence in the telecom industry and recognize outstanding technologies developed for the NFV and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) industry in the last 12 months. The "NFV Innovation of the Year" category honors companies who have made a significant impact in facilitating the development of NFV.
"As the telecom industry moves towards NFV, ensuring the delivery of virtualized services at carrier grade levels of performance and reliability is critical. The Carrier Network Virtualization Award acknowledges Wind River's solution as an innovative technology that meets the needs for and advances NFV," said Paul Senyshyn, vice president and general manager of networking solutions at Wind River. "Wind River Titanium Server delivers an NFV infrastructure that can help service providers easily and quickly achieve their goals such as reducing costs while introducing new high-value services through the power of NFV."
Designed to meet the stringent "always on" requirements of the telecom industry, Titanium Server is a comprehensive, virtual network functions (VNF)—ready software platform. With Titanium Server as the NFV infrastructure software foundation, the telecom industry can take full advantage of the best of both worlds: the rapid service deployment typically found in enterprise networks with the carrier grade uptime and strict reliability mandated by telecom networks. Based on technologies using open standards including carrier grade Wind River Linux, real-time Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), carrier grade enhancements to OpenStack®, Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel DPDK), and accelerated vSwitch technologies, and optimized for Intel architecture, Titanium Server brings together high performance with six-nines (99.9999%) carrier grade reliability.
"The Carrier Network Virtualization Awards recognize innovators who have created NFV technologies that have the power to revolutionize the market, remove barriers, and help make technology virtualization a reality," said Sally Watts, chairperson of the Carrier Network Virtualization Awards. "Wind River Titanium Server provides an essential infrastructure foundation to help the industry transition to the NFV networks of the future."
In addition to Titanium Server, Wind River offers a strong collection of proven networking and communications technologies that includes Wind River Linux, Carrier Grade Profile for Wind River Linux, and Wind River Open Virtualization. These offerings are part of the comprehensive Wind River portfolio that addresses the entire Internet of Things (IoT) architecture, from the management of intelligent devices at the edge, to the gateway, into the network, and up into the cloud, allowing Wind River to help customers transform their businesses and tap into the vast potential of IoT.
