Dental technology leader Sirona Dental Systems, Inc., maintains its competitive advantage by developing tools that give practicing dentists a professional edge. Its product line of extra-oral 2-D/3-D X-ray devices was a breakthrough, one the company wanted to cement by adding networking capability to send X-ray images to PCs to process and display. To ensure performance and reliability, the team knew they needed an RTOS. They also needed to develop their product fast.

HOW WIND RIVER HELPED

Wind River® Platform for Medical Devices brought together the VxWorks RTOS, an embedded development suite, a core network stack, and robust security components. Added to this was support for the PowerPC architecture via custom board support packages.
